This habitat is total size 9x5x5 inches. Livable area, less the base, is @7.5x5x5 inches.
Enclosure has 2 air vents, one on each side for air flow and easy misting. Note that grommets are plastic and fiberglass mesh covered to avoid any rusting. There is a feeder hole on top that seals with a silicone stopper. Bottom opening to prevent disturbing your spood’s upper hides or nests.
We use E6000 silicone based, waterproof, non-toxic adhesive for heavy items.
Artificial Plants, Natural Dried Super-Moss and small items are secured with non-toxic Gorilla Hot Glue. Items on sides and top are secured with magnets for removal for cleaning or decor change. The moss on the base is not secured if you choose the flat base with only the attached reptile mat or the need arises to replace while cleaning. Note that we cure fully before shipment. If there is any residual smell, air for a day or two until no smell is detected.
Natural wood items in this enclosure are sealed against moisture with a water based, non-toxic, polycrylic top coat sealer to protect them from molding quickly. The humid environment required by your jumping spider can encourage mold and bacteria which is not safe for your spood. Mist only, do not coat heavily as this will encourage an unsafe mold environment no matter how much sealing you do! When misting the enclosure, mist lightly and to the sides of the enclosure. Do not spray directly on hides or your spood.
Note that all decor is easily spot cleaned with a damp q-tip or paper towel. Cleaning and inspecting your spood’s home weekly is advised.
